Mimosa pudica hails from the Fabaceae family. The common names for this plant are Sensitive plant, Touch-Me-Not plant, Humble plant, Shameful plant, Sleeping Grass, Prayer plant and Sensitiva.
Description: It is short-lived evergreen sub shrub usually treated as an annual. The fern like leaves close up and droop when touched, usually re-opening within minutes. It has prickly stems and small, fluffy, ball shaped pink flowers in summer. Its stem is erect, slender and branching. The leaves are bipinnate, fern like and pale green- closing when disturbed. The flowers are pale lilac pink, occurring in globose heads. The leaves and entire plants are used as medicine.
Uses: It is used alone or with other herbs to treat diabetes, cancer, lumbago, nephritis, and wounds.
